chick-fil-a Sauce

 

Homemade Chick-fil-A Sauce

For the best results, use Kraft Hickory Smoked Barbecue Sauce.

Makes 1 cup

  • ½ cup mayonnaise 
  • ¼ cup hickory smoked barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Whisk all ingredients in small bowl until well combined. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled and flavors meld, at least 30 minutes. (Sauce can be refrigerated for up to a week.)

Chrusciki (Polish) Love knots

 

About 20 minutes before deep frying, fill deep pan 1/2-2/3 full with vegetable shortening or cooking oil for ddep frying.  Heat slowly to 365 degrees.   When using an automatic deep fryier, follow manufacturer's directions for the amount of fat and times.


Sift together into bowl:

    2 cup sifted flour

1 T sugar

12 t slt.


Make a well in the center of dry ingredients and pour in a mixture of:

    3 egg yolks, slightly beaten

    1/2 cup thick sour cream

    1/2 t  vanilla extract

Blend ingredients until all the flour is moistened.

Let dough rest 1-2 minutes.  Pour dough out onto the lightly floured surface and knead only until ingredients are well blended. shape dough into a smooth ball; roll dough or lightly floured surface into a rectangle 1/8" thick.

Roll 1/2 of dough at a time.  With floured knife, cut dough;  cut dough into diamond-shaped pieces.  Make a 1" lengthwise cut into the center of each diamond;  pull one end through slit, twisting alightly.

Deep-fry only one-layer of cookies at a time; do not crowd. turn cookies with fork as they rise to surface and several times during cooking, but do not pierce.


Fry about  minutes or until lightly browned.  Drain,  Sprinkle cookies with sifted confectioers sugar.

Shortbread Cookies Joan Montgomery

 1 pound butter

1 cup sugar

4 cups flour


Cream very, very, very well the butter.  Add sugar and cream more.  Add flour and mix very well.  

Chill and then slice to bake.

ALWAYS MAKE AND ALWAYS BAKE THEM ON A SUNNY, DAY.


BAKE ON UNGREASED PAN - AT 300-325 20-25 MINUTES OR UNTIL HARD BUT NOT BROWN


THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC RECIPE FROM A SCOTTISH CONVERT,

Candy Turtles

 1/2# soft caramels (25)

2 T whipping cream**

1-1/4 cup pecan halves

Melt caramels over hot water w/cream. Let cool about 10 minutes.  Arrange pecan halves in groups of 3 on lightly greased baking sheet (1 for head 2 for legs)  

Spoon melted mix over nuts leaving tips showing. Let stand at least 30 minutes. Melt chocolate over hot water. Remove from water and stir til smooth.

Cool; spread over carmel. 

** this amount produces very soft caramel--1 T will be stiffer and nicer

English Muffins in a Loaf

 2 T Fleischmann's active dry yeast

6 cup unsifted flour

1 T sugar

2 t salt

2 c milk

1/4 t baking soda

1/2 c water

cornmeal

Combine 3 C flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and soda. Heat liquids til very warm.  Add to dry mixture. Beat well. Stir in the rest of the flour to make a stiff batter.

Spoom into 8-1/2 x 4-1/2" pans that have been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal.


Cover; let rise in warm place 45 minutes.  Bake at 400 for 25 minutes.  Remove from pans immediately and cool

Nooks and crannies inside and crusty outside for tasting.

Muffins Betty Franklin

 Dry ingredients together:

2 cup flour

1/2 c sugar

1 T baking powder

1/2 t salt

Liquid ingredients:

1c milk

1/4 cup oil

1 egg

add 1 C blueberries

Crumb Topping

3 T flour

3 T sugar

1 t cinnamon

3 T margarine


place 2T batter in muffin cuo. Add toppiongs

Bake in Microwave 50% power 1 minute 10 seconds, 1 minute 20 seconds. til top feels done

Crumb Muffins

 Combine in bowl:  1 egg beaten, 1cup milk, 1/4 cup melted margarine, 1 cup dry bread crumbs, Stir and set aside.

Sift together: 1 c flour, 1 T sugar, 1/2 t salt. 1 T baking powder.  Fold dry ingredients into liquids. Stir just til all is moistened.

Fill greased muffin tines 2/3 full.

Bake 25 minutes at 375


12 muffins

Raised Breakfast Cake

 Scald and cool 3 C. milk

Stir together to dissolve:  2 T yeast, 1 cup water.

Combine in large bowl:  milk, yeast, 1-1/2 cup soft shortening, 1/2 cup sugar, 4 t. salt, 1 egg, 6 cup flour.

Beat well til dough is smooth and satiny.


Stir in 1 cup raisins combined with 3/4 c flour. 

Cover and let rise til doubled. 


With back of spoon spread dough thinly onto 2greased 10x15" cookie sheets. Brush generously with melted margarine and sprinkle with sugar


Bake 20 minutes at 375



Pancakes Sophia Corbridge

 (triple for family)

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup milk

3 eggs

dash salt

Mix in blender bowl

Melt margarine in pie plates at 450 till sizzling.

Pour batter into pie plate, not 1/4" deep.  Reaches all edges

Bake 425 12+minutes til golden


Serve with yogurt, fruit, 10x sugar, brown sugar, cool ship, Syrup


Cinnamon Bread Sophia Corbridge

 6.5 - 7 cups flour

6 T sugar

1-1/2 t salt

2 T yeast in 3/4 cup water

1 cup milk

1/3 cup margarine

3 eggs

mix, rise,   roll into loaf

Rise and Sprinkle with topping:

     1/3 cup flour

   1/3 cup brown sugar

   1 t. cinnamon

   3 T margarine

Make a Foil Tent.  make at 375 for 40 minutes

Drizzle melted Margarine, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 t cinnamon, 1 egg white slightly beaten

Little Hot Meat Ball Appetizers

 1/2# bulk pork sausage

1/2# grd chuck

minced garlic to taste

1/2 cup cracker crumbs

Mix together the meatball ingredients and shape into 1" balls. Mix together sauce ingredients. Add meatballs (don't brown and simmer 2-12 hours.  Serve hot as appetizers.


SAUCE

2 8oz cans tomato sauce

1 6 oz can tomato paste

1 6oz can wsater

1/4 t salt

1/4 t pepper

1 t sugar

12 t crused red pepper

14 t dry mustard

1/4 t garlic salt


Pinch each of oregano, basil, thyme, and marjoram

5 dashes Tabasco sauce

1/2 pound sliced baken, cut into 3" pieces.

Zucchini Appetizers - GMP

 3 Cups thinly sliced unpared zucchini (about 4 small)

1 cup bisquick

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

1/2 c grated Parmesan

2 T snipped Parsley

1/2 t salt

1/2 t seasoned salt

1/2 t dried marjoram or oregano leaves

dash of pepper

1 clove garlic, finealy chipped

1/2 c vegetable oil

4 eggs, slightly beaten

Heat oven to 350.

grease oblong  pan, 13x9x2.  Mix all ingredients; spread in pan.

Bake til golden brown about 25 minutes. Cut into pieces about 2x1"  4 dozen appetizers.

Thumbprint cookies

 1/2 c shortenin, part oleo

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 egg separated

1/2 t. vanilla

1 cup flour

1/4 t salt

3/4 cup nuts (chopped)

Heat oven to 350. Mix shortening, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla thoroughly. Blend together flor and salt; stir in.  Roll dough into balls (1 t. per ball). Beat egg white slightly with fork. Dip ball sin egg whites, Foll in nuts.  

Place about 1" apart on ungreased baking sheet; gently press thumb in the neter of eac.

Bake 10-12 minutes or until set. Cool

Fil thumbprints with jelly or tinted aicing.  Makes  3 dozen
